Candle care + safety
When purchasing a Harvest candle we want you to enjoy it for as long as possible and get the most out of it, so here are a few tips on how to get a long and clean burn.Where to keep your candle is key. Always burn your candle on an even and fire resistant surface - ideally a candle coaster, away from drafts and other flammable objects. Make sure to keep your candle out of reach of from children and pets. Always burn it within sight and remember to extinguish before you leave the house!
Before lighting your candle make sure the wick is approximately 1/4inch (1/2cm), you may need to trim it. We would suggest using a candle wick trimmer to gently trim away the unnecessary wick, or carefully use some scissors. Make sure that no wick trimmings or used matches are in the wax when lighting your candle.
When burning your candle always allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the jar, this will ensure an even burn and prevent your candle wax from what is known as tunnelling (which gives your candle a short burn life). As soy wax has a lower melting point than other waxes it can be the case that all of the wax melts, so please bare this in mind and be careful not to knock your candle jar over.
Make sure to never burn the candle for longer than 4 hours at a time. You’ll want to trim the wick every time before you light your candle as this ensures the candle doesn’t give off any black smoke. When your candle wax is down to 1/2 inch, discontinue use and clean your vessel to re use as a plant holder or stationary pot.
